Over half of the population is affected by dental phobias and fears of some kind. Some of these fears are caused by childhood experiences while others are as simple as being uncomfortable with the idea of having metal tools in your mouth. No matter what the source of your discomfort is, Drs. Davis, Boeller, and Rife are here to help you overcome it so that you can get the treatment you need. When you call to schedule an appointment, be sure to ask about our options for sedation dentistry in Englewood, FL.
Oral conscious sedation is a needle-free option for relaxing during a dental appointment. You simply take some oral medication before the treatment. You’ll be completely at ease by the time the treatment starts. The medication doesn’t put you to sleep, but time will seem to fly by, and you may not remember the treatment itself afterwards. Be sure to make arrangements for someone else to drive you home after the appointment, as the medication won’t have fully worn off by then.
As the name suggests, this type of sedation involves delivering the medication directly into one of your veins (usually on the back of your hand). The advantage of this approach is that we have control over how much sedative is used at any given time in order to ensure that you stay as comfortable as possible. Like oral conscious sedation, you will likely forget the details about the treatment, and you’ll need to arrange for a trusted adult to take you home afterwards.
